Who we are

Veridare is a party game for iPhone, iPad and Android, and this website at playveridare.com. Veridare is run by its founder, Ekpenyong Effiong, an individual based in the Netherlands, who is responsible for your personal data (the data controller). For any privacy question or request, email hello@playveridare.com.

The Veridare app

What stays on your device

Player and profile names, avatars, lifetime stats, challenge results, settings, recently played question IDs and any game in progress are stored only on your device, so you can resume games and avoid repeat questions. We never receive this data. You can delete profiles in the app, and deleting the app removes everything it stored.

What we collect

Nothing. The app has no account, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no advertising identifiers, and it does not contact our servers.

Nearby Play

Nearby Play connects phones directly over the same Wi-Fi network or a phone’s hotspot. Player names, answers and scores for the game are shared only between the devices in that room, never through our servers. This traffic is not encrypted, so other devices on the same network could in principle see it; play Nearby on networks you trust, such as your home Wi-Fi or a phone’s hotspot. On iPhone and iPad, your device asks for permission to use the local network before Nearby Play can start.

Camera

The camera is used only to scan a host’s QR code when joining a Nearby game. The image is read on your device and is never stored or sent anywhere. Camera permission is requested only when you choose to scan.

Every answer can link to the source it was checked against. Opening a link takes you to that third-party website, which has its own privacy policy.

App stores

Apple and Google handle downloads and may collect data under their own privacy policies. They may share anonymous, aggregated statistics with us, such as download numbers or crash reports from users who have chosen to share them with the store.

This website

Hosting

The website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We do not use this data to identify you. We rely on our legitimate interests in securely delivering and protecting the website.

Cookies and analytics

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising trackers.

Purchases (coming soon)

Veridare is free, with every mode and category included. We plan to offer an optional Supporter pass and tips as in-app purchases. Payments will be handled entirely by Apple or Google, so we will never see your card or payment details. The app will receive a confirmation of your purchase to unlock Supporter features on that device. If we use a service to manage purchases, it will receive an anonymous purchase ID and the purchase details, and we will name it here before purchases go live.

Changes we are planning

We want to be clear about where Veridare may go next. None of these is active today.

• Optional usage stats. We may ask whether you want to share anonymous play stats to help improve the game: counts such as games started and finished, the mode, the rough number of players, and whether the Supporter screen was shown or a pass was bought. This will be off unless you turn it on, and it will never include names, answers or a device identifier.
• A limited ad test. If we test ads, they would appear only after a finished game, never during a round or in Nearby Play, and would be non-personalised. An ad provider would process technical data such as your IP address and device information. We will obtain any consent required by applicable privacy and electronic-communications laws before the ad technology is activated. The Supporter pass will always remove ads.
• Custom question packs for events. If we offer private packs for teams, weddings or schools, any details you send us to write the questions would be used only for that pack.

Before any of these starts, we will update this policy and the app store privacy labels, and we will not begin collecting anything until the updated policy is published.

If you email us

If you email us, we use your email address and your message only to reply to you. We do not add you to any mailing list, and we do not sell or share your details. We delete the conversation once it is resolved, unless we need to keep it to deal with a complaint or a legal obligation. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering you.

Children

Veridare is family-friendly and the app collects no personal data from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has emailed us, contact us and we will delete the message.

Where your data is processed

Cloudflare, which hosts this website, may process data outside your country, including in the United States. For eligible transfers from the EU to the United States, Cloudflare relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework; for other transfers, it uses the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, ask us to restrict how we use it, object to how we use it, or, where applicable, receive it in a portable format, at any time. Email hello@playveridare.com and we will reply within one month.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, in particular the one in the country where you live or work, or where you believe the problem occurred. In the EU and EEA, you can find your national authority on the European Data Protection Board’s list; in the United Kingdom it is the Information Commissioner’s Office. Because Veridare is run from the Netherlands, our lead authority is the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Changes to this policy

We will post any changes on this page and update the date above. For significant changes, we will also mention them in the app’s release notes.
